Hotel Sol (San Javier, Tucumán, Argentina), October 28-31, 2008
The Willi Hennig Society (WHS) publishes the journal Cladistics, and has as its aim fostering studies in phylogenetics, systematics, and biogeography. The WHS is of a strongly international character, meeting every year in a different country. The International Meetings of the Willi Hennig Society, or Hennig meetings, are thus conceived as an opportunity for exchange of ideas both on purely methodological aspects and on recent empirical developments and applications in phylogenetics and biogeography. At the same time, Hennig meetings provide an informal atmosphere which encourages discussion and interaction. In keeping with this idea, there are no concurrent sessions at Hennig meetings, and discussions after each presentation have no time limit.
The XXVII Hennig metting will be held jointly with the local Reunión Argentina de Cladística y Biogeografía, at which researchers of the southern cone have been meeting since 1997.
By providing a theme of discussion across the whole spectrum of comparative biology, this kind of meeting typically assembles workers from fields as diverse as zoology, botany or paleontology; systematics, behaviour or ecology; and morphologists, moleculists or biogeographers. Not to forget wild fiestas.
